The hat itself is made of a very stiff plastic-y material. The brim is a little longer and wider then one would envision using the pictures on amazon. It is also very hard to get any kind of curve to the brim if you're not a person into the straight brim style. The hat came with whats best described as "dents" in the material, about a quarter in size, they are tough to smooth out due to the nature of the fabric (if you can call it that.)...
